Tribute Trees
Darlington Community Garden’s Tribute Trees program is a fundraising tree planting initiative. The aim is to engage the community in tree planting while raising funds for additional trees and other assets for the community garden. Individuals and families are invited to “purchase” a tribute tree by making a donation towards the purchase and planting of a tree.
Donors will be able to select from a list of suitable trees. The family can dedicate their tree with a plaque.
Some examples might be trees in memory of a loved one, a miscarriage or a pet. Trees could also be dedicated to a family in recognition of 20 years living in Darlington or a living person who has made a significant community contribution. A business might choose to purchase a tree as a retirement gift to a loyal employee. Tree sponsors are encouraged to engage in the watering of their trees over the Summer season. Watering can also be done by DCG volunteers.
To ensure ongoing support of their Tribute Tree, tree sponsors are encouraged to become annual members of DCG. Tree sponsors will also receive a certificate marking their dedication.
